Cressex Co-operative Learning Partnership
On 1 April 2010 Cressex Community School became the first state maintained Trust school in Buckinghamshire and one of the first Cooperative Trust schools in England. Together with our partners, Dr Challoner's Grammar School, Wycombe Abbey School, The Cooperative College, Buckinghamshire County Council and Buckinghamshire New University, we form the Cressex Cooperative Learning Partnership. The Trust's vision is of educational excellence and high levels of achievement for all students. It will achieve this by creating and sustaining school cultures which promote high levels of aspirations and expectations and lead to the development of thoughtful, creative and enterprising young people who are ready to play an active role in their communities as citizens and workers. The vision of the Trust is entirely consistent with the aims of the school published elsewhere on this website. From September 2010 the structure of the Trust will include a new "Stakeholder Forum". This will provide an important opportunity for students, staff, parents and representatives of the community served by the school to have their say in the way the school develops. More information, including information about how to become a member of the Forum, will be made available in due course. The Trust was officially launched at a ceremony on 10 June 2010, attended by students, staff and governors from Cressex along with staff and governors from all of the partner organisations. Keynote presentations were made by Professor Ron Glatter of the Open University, Mervyn Wilson, principal of the Co-operative College, the school's head boy, Summan Hussain and deputy head girl, Tamara Paula. We were also very pleased to receive the following message of support from Steve Baker, the new MP for High Wycombe: "I am sorry that I am unable to be with you this evening, but I am delighted that Cressex Community School has taken the step to became the first state-maintained Trust school in Buckinghamshire and one of the first Cooperative Trust schools in England. In addition, I am deeply encouraged by the school's recent success. I know the staff, the governors and students will have worked hard to achieve the progress reported by Ofsted in March. I wish the school ever greater success. The School's partners in this new trust - Dr Challoner's Grammar School, Wycombe Abbey School, The Cooperative College, Buckinghamshire County Council and Buckinghamshire New University - should be congratulated on their efforts and the support they have shown fellow institutions. I feel this example underlines the bond and unity Wycombe has amongst all its education providers from primary all the way up to higher education. I am aware of the developments at Cressex and I look forward to seeing the new school building, which I have been told will be ready for occupation for the school year in September. Education is one of my key concerns and the opening of the new building will without a doubt provide further opportunities for the students to grow and learn." Headteacher
